Our Services

IT services are provided by Heritage Technology to support both commercial and academic archaeology, and we can offer technical expertise to projects concerning both archaeological excavation and the built environment. Through the use of CAD and GIS technologies we provide detailed spatial analyses at scales ranging from individual sites through to regional levels or greater. A high-quality illustration service for publication is also available, providing GIS-generated maps, digital diagrams and photo-processing/annotation. Further details are provided below:

Historic Buildings Recording
Our historic buildings survey provides the following elements:

  • desk-based assessment,
  • site evaluation and survey as appropriate to English Heritage (RCHME) building recording guidelines,
  • full illustrated report

The guidelines set out by RCHME (1996) detail four distinct levels of survey

  1. Visual
  2. Descriptive
  3. Analytical
  4. Comprehensive
Heritage Technology undertakes survey at all the above levels and provides full, detailed reconstructive multimedia for Level 4 survey projects. We also undertake small-scale archaeological work, such as watching briefs and desk-based assessments.

Spatial Analysis
Using GIS and CAD software we offer a spatial analysis service capable of interrogating complex datasets, no matter what geographical level. Whether it be finds data at site-level or point/boundary data at regional and national levels, we can provide accurate distributions and analyses based on any supplied criteria.

Report and Archive Illustration
Heritage Technology provides a digital illustration service for archaeological reports and for the purposes of archiving. From scaled, GIS-generated maps or plans to digitised excavations drawings, we provide a quick and accurate service. Our illustrations are created to publishing standards and in formats suitable for digital archiving.
